A "dyson Sphere"

you may need to disassemble planets to build a sphere surrounding the star, shell captures all of the energy that the star outputs, and radiates it back out. (way to use all of the sun's energy. sorta like a windmil)

in order for us to build one,  that has the same radius as our distance to the sun, we would have to dissasemble jupiter, and staturn, and use up earth.

Ohh, and you live on the inside of the spheres inner surface area. (would be plenty), and the sphere is 3meters thick.
